Where the practices are

When we reviewed Google Maps practice listings on 12 October 2026, the largest group of practices advertising implant treatment sat within a few kilometres of the Sandton CBD, with more along Rivonia Road through Morningside and Rivonia and in the medical suites of Bryanston. Several practices in the area publish dedicated implant pages, and at least one in Bryanston focuses its website on implant treatment.

Density is not quality. A cluster of practices means there is choice and that implant treatment is a routine part of dentistry here. It says nothing about any one practice, and this website does not rank, rate or recommend practitioners.

Planning around many visits

Implant treatment usually means several appointments spread over months: the assessment, any preparation, placement, reviews during healing, and fitting the final tooth or teeth. In this part of Johannesburg, the practical questions are often about time. Morning and late-afternoon traffic on Rivonia Road, William Nicol Drive and the M1 can make a short appointment take half a day.

If you work in the Sandton CBD, a practice near the office may suit the shorter visits, while a practice near home may suit the day of surgery, when you may prefer not to drive. Ask the practice how many visits your plan involves before you choose where to be treated.

Hospital and day-theatre treatment

Most implant placement is done in the dental chair under local anaesthetic. Larger cases, such as full-arch treatment under general anaesthetic, are sometimes done in a hospital or day theatre. The northern suburbs have private hospitals in Bryanston and Morningside. If your plan involves theatre, ask where it will be done and whether the theatre and anaesthetist fees are in the quote.

Which suburbs does this area page cover?

Sandton CBD, Bryanston, Morningside and Rivonia. Each has its own page with local detail.

Can you recommend a practice in Sandton?

No. We do not recommend, rank or book practitioners. Start with your own dentist, or contact a practice directly and check the practitioner's registration on the HPCSA register.

Is treatment in Sandton different from elsewhere in Johannesburg?

The treatment itself is the same. What differs is the number of practices nearby and the practicalities of getting to many appointments.

The next step is an assessment by a dentist

Only a dentist who examines you, with X-rays or a scan, can say whether an implant is suitable and what it would involve. Start with your own dentist. If you do not have one, read what an implant assessment covers and what to take with you.
