A short hop to several practices

Morningside borders the Sandton CBD and runs along Rivonia Road, where there are many medical and dental suites. Practices in the area publish pages for Morningside patients, which we saw in the practice websites reviewed on 12 October 2026. For residents, that usually means several practices offering implant treatment within a short drive.

Transport on the days that matter

Most implant appointments are routine and you can drive yourself. The exceptions are the day the implant is placed, if sedation is used, and any day involving a general anaesthetic. On those days you will normally be asked not to drive and to have someone take you home. If you rely on a family member or a lift service, book the surgery date with that in mind.

It is also worth asking how you will eat in the first days after placement and what you will wear in the gap while the implant heals, so you can plan around work or family commitments.

Understanding the plan you are given

A written plan should list each stage, who does it, and its fee. Look for the imaging, any extractions or grafting, the implant, the abutment, the temporary tooth and the final crown, bridge or denture. If something you expected is missing, ask whether it has been left out or included elsewhere.

Our pages on the implant assessment and what a dental implant is explain the terms you are likely to see. The Morningside area page covers the suburb.

Frequently asked questions

Can I drive myself to implant surgery?

If only local anaesthetic is used, often yes. With sedation or a general anaesthetic you will normally be asked not to drive. The practice will tell you.

Are Morningside practices far from Sandton?

No. Morningside borders the Sandton CBD, so practices in both are within a short drive.

Can this website choose a practice for me?

No. We do not recommend, rank or book practitioners. Start with your own dentist.

The next step is an assessment by a dentist

Only a dentist who examines you, with X-rays or a scan, can say whether an implant is suitable and what it would involve. Start with your own dentist. If you do not have one, read what an implant assessment covers and what to take with you.
