Who we are

This website is operated by [CONFIRM: registered company name and registration number] ("we", "us"), trading as the Joburg Dental Implant Guide. We are the responsible party, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), for any personal information processed through this website.

Information Officer: [CONFIRM: Information Officer name and contact details, registered with the Information Regulator]. Deputy Information Officer: [CONFIRM: if appointed].

The short version

This is an information website. It has no enquiry form, no account and no booking system. We do not collect your name, phone number or health information through the website, and we do not pass anyone's details to a dental practice. Optional analytics run only if you allow them.

What we collect

When you visit, our hosting provider processes the technical information any website needs to deliver a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to serve the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse.

If you allow analytics, Google Analytics records how pages are used, in aggregate: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from and which device types they use. IP addresses are anonymised and advertising features are switched off. If you reject analytics or make no choice, the analytics tag is not loaded.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to deal with your message.

Health information

Information about your health is special personal information under POPIA, and processing it is generally prohibited without specific grounds such as your express consent. We do not ask for it and we do not want it. Please do not send us X-rays, scans, treatment plans, symptoms or medical aid details. If we receive them, we will delete them and will not use them.

Why we process it

We process technical information because it is necessary to operate a secure website, which is in our legitimate interest. We process analytics data only with your consent, which you give by choosing "Allow analytics". You may withdraw that consent at any time through the "Privacy choices" link, and withdrawal does not affect processing that already took place. We process email correspondence to respond to you.

Who we share it with

Our website is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical data on our behalf as an operator. If you allow analytics, Google processes analytics data on our behalf. Both may process data outside South Africa; we rely on their contractual safeguards for that transfer. [CONFIRM: operator agreements and cross-border transfer basis, attorney-reviewed]

We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with dental practices, and we do not use it for marketing.

Cookies and local storage

We store your analytics choice in your browser's local storage so that we do not ask on every page. If you allow analytics, Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell visits apart. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings. [CONFIRM: GA4 measurement ID and cookie notice wording, Compliance sign-off]

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose above, or as the law requires. [CONFIRM: retention periods, set by the directors in the retention schedule] After that, records are deleted or de-identified.

How we protect it

The website is served over an encrypted connection with security headers that limit what scripts may run. Access to analytics and to our email is restricted to the people who need it. If we become aware of a security compromise affecting personal information, we will notify the people affected and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

Your rights

You may ask whether we hold personal information about you and for a copy of it, ask us to correct or delete it, object to its processing, and withdraw your consent. Contact the Information Officer at [CONFIRM: privacy contact email]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): https://inforegulator.org.za.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page. Last updated: 12 October 2026. [CONFIRM: attorney review of this policy before launch]

The next step is an assessment by a dentist

Only a dentist who examines you, with X-rays or a scan, can say whether an implant is suitable and what it would involve. Start with your own dentist. If you do not have one, read what an implant assessment covers and what to take with you.
