Dental implants in Fourways and northern Johannesburg
Fourways and the northern growth areas have fewer practices advertising implant treatment than Sandton, based on the listings we reviewed. Here is what that means for planning.
A thinner spread of practices
On 12 October 2026 the Google Maps listings we reviewed showed fewer practices advertising implant treatment in Fourways, and less listing activity around them, than around Sandton and Rosebank. That is not a measure of quality, and we do not use it to judge any practice. It does suggest that much of the implant work in the north of the city is concentrated further south, towards Sandton.
That pattern matters mainly because implant treatment takes many visits. A practice that is fifteen minutes away at midday can be much further in peak traffic on William Nicol Drive or Witkoppen Road.
Questions to ask when the practice is further away
If you are considering a practice some distance from home, it is worth asking:
- How many appointments does the plan need, and can any be combined?
- Which visits are short reviews, and which involve surgery or sedation?
- Can follow-up reviews be done closer to home, by your own dentist?
- Who do you contact between appointments if you have a concern, and how?
Randburg and Sunninghill
People in Randburg and Sunninghill also fall within this part of Johannesburg. We have not published a separate Randburg page, because we could not source enough specific, independent information about implant treatment there. The treatment pages and the Fourways and Sandton pages apply equally to people in those suburbs.

The Fourways page describes what we could establish locally and links to the relevant treatment pages.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there only one suburb page for northern Johannesburg?
We publish a suburb page only where we can say something specific and sourced. So far that is Fourways. Randburg will be added if we can source enough local information.
Should I travel to Sandton for implants?
That is your choice. We do not recommend any practice or area. Consider how many visits are involved and start by asking your own dentist.
Can my own dentist do the follow-up visits?
Sometimes, depending on the plan and the practitioners involved. Ask both practices how they share care and records.
